πΎ Magh Bihu, also called Bhogali Bihu, is a special harvest festival in Assam, North-East India. Celebrated in mid-January, it marks the exciting end of the harvesting season, giving thanks for all the crops farmers have gathered.
The fun begins on the eve, called Uruka! Young men build temporary bamboo huts, known as Bhelaghar, and huge bonfires called Meji. Women prepare delicious traditional sweets like pitha and laddus for a grand community feast. π₯
On the main day, people take special baths and light the Meji bonfires to honor Agni Dev, the fire god. They pray for good health and bountiful harvests. The celebrations include Bihu songs, lively folk dances, and fun games like pot-breaking! π
This festival brings people together, showing the importance of community and peace. Burning the Meji symbolizes saying goodbye to winter and welcoming spring. π€
